The 18th March saw 8 members attend an illustrated talk by Anthony Miller entitled 'The South End of the Lancaster Canal'.
Tony explained what was left since the canal had been cut back and filled in, superimposing modern plans on the original layouts, supplementing this with old and new views of the same locations, allowing a 'Past and Present' view. He had obviously been researching this for some time and collected a wonderful array of pictures showing the reminants of the canal, he then moved on to the tramway which linked to the two sections of the canal, before covering the final southern Whittle end of the canal. This southern tip looks like a most interesting walk and would prove very entertaining one balmy summer evening (Hope!).
Please note our next meeting, is a run and natter, BUT IS NOT on the usual third Thursday, but on the 8th of April instead, for contact details, please see the 'Blue Sheet'.
