Fylde Area Group (October 2010)

The 21st October saw 6 members present, for an operating session of ‘Preston’. The low turnout in part due to illness, and also to the fact which is often reported, that many P4/S4 members whilst able to produce exquisite models have very little interest or understanding in actually operating the railway in a prototypical manner.

The poor turnout with only five member plus a visitor present (3 by the end of the evening) meant the operating environment was difficult to achieve. The problem could have been avoided by advance warning from members that they would be unable to turn up, in which case I could have drafted in other helpers. In view of the effort to prepare for an event like this I will not be offering an operating session to the Area Group again.
