Yorkshire (South) Area Group

The Livery of John Robinson's Class 1 'City of Manchester' sets the period of the layout. The South Yorkshire 4mm Group is a long established, small informal group centred in Sheffield, primarily for P4 devotees but also catering for other 4mm modellers of a finescale persuasion.

Since we're not a club, there's no clubroom or group layout; members have always worked on their own projects and assisted each other as necessary at exhibitions etc.

We meet at members' homes once a month, discuss projects, enjoy running sessions where there's a layout, or have a test track available if not. Sometimes we have a slide show and occasionally arrange other events.

Also on Brackley is a Parker class 3alt tank loco. The interests of Group members are quite varied and include GC pre-grouping and BR; GNR pre-grouping; LMS 30's; BR 60's; Industrial; American; Irish; SR; S&D etc. and there's interest in the current railway scene. Generally all models are appreciated if at least some work has been done to them i.e. conversion to EM or P4 from ready-to-run. Currently sixteen members are in the Group, but two have moved from the area and four seldom get to meetings; the average attendance at meetings is eight.
Although we have no formal association with other clubs we do try to assist Sheffield Model Railway Enthusiasts with a presence at their show, but its date often clashes with Scalefour North.

A lot of the West Yorkshire Area Group meetings (see below) have been attended by some of our members and we have good links with their Group.
