The group meets monthly in members homes on Sunday afternoons, alternating between York and Teesside. It is usually, but not always, the 2nd Sunday of each month. We also meet at other times to work on the group layout Awrhyllgwami Quarry.
Originally formed in 2005 our interests form an eclectic mix from GWR broad gauge to Aberdeen Diesels and most things in between! Ages also range from the young in years to the young in spirit. Members of the group have their own layouts which range from just starting to being exhibited:
Waterloo Street | BR ScR 1970's |
Picton | BR NE 1953 - 1963 |
Danby | NER ca. 1910 |
Penrhos Junctions | Barry, Rhymney & ANDR 1920 plus modern image |
We will warmly welcome new members to join us, especially if you can smile at the group name. Typical attendance is 5/6. New members welcome, even if you do not model in P4.
We play trains when we can at a member's house or club, otherwise we chat about our latest successes and failures. We have had modelling days and workshops about AJ couplings and DCC.
The group layout is called Awrhyllgwami Quarry (pronounced origami). It was built for the DEMU challenge in 2008 and has been exhibited several times since. After the Tyneside 2010 exhibition the layout re-entered the workshop to be extended into a large circuit that can run full length expresses and long trundling freight trains.
