The society logo over a background of trackwork. For 4mm finescale railway modelling at its very best

Craven Area Group

Layout - Heathend The Craven (Lancashire and Yorkshire) Area Group comprises five regular members and another two or three who come more occasionally, but we would welcome any Society members, or other interested modellers living in the area between Bradford and Preston. We usually meet in Barnoldswick at the home of our Secretary, Roger Cox (see the Blue Sheet for contact details) to whom all enquiries about exhibiting or demonstrating should be addressed.

Our social meetings are usually on a Monday evening, except the pre-Christmas slide-show and mince pie bash, which is a Sunday evening affair. We share magazines of interest, bring our latest models to display and discuss, drink tea and coffee and chat about matters prototype, model and non-railway. Sometimes a Monday meeting will begin with some work on our current layout, Heath End* (seen at Scalefour North in April 2011), and we gather at other times to carry out construction or maintenance work, often when an exhibition deadline is drawing near!

Past projects include Tibberton (see Model Railways March 1990), Fulham Imperial Road and a simple end-to-end double track demonstration Cravenfoot Halt* with scenery in various stages of completion to show how we did it. We have also helped exhibit members' layouts: Littlestoke, Frome North (seen at Scalefour Southwest in August 2007) and Biginnor Road*.
